I won a thing
posted by Hampton on Thu, May 22nd 2008Guys! I won the DC Improv Comedy Competition 2008 last Tuesday night! This is actually a big deal! I posted my video a while ago from my first round, I'll put my finals video up when O get it. Anyway, I get a free trip to L.A. with hotel included, so I can perform at the Hollywood Improv, I'll be featured on XM radio in a small capacity, and I also get a week's work at the D.C. Improv being the MC (so basically, good money and great stage time). The other comics were amazing, all of them are good friends. I had a good spot and luck was on my side. For the record, comedy contests are kind of lame. There is no way to decide the funniest comic on the planet, humor is subjective, therefore being a winner doesn't really mean anything. But, I am all for prizes for comics in an industry with almost zero reward. You can actually hear my pre-show thoughts on the contest and contests in general on this podcast. Anyway, I just wanted to let you guys know I am still totally committed to comedy and I hope someday each of you can see me perform in some capacity. You all have been great. Keep reading.
