Otakon Update
posted by Clay on Mon, Aug 2nd 2004I got back from Otakon on Sunday. I was worried that I wouldn't have a lot of time to get the comic up, so I asked Hampton to give me a script with as few panels as possible. So there you have it, a 2-panel comic :) Otakon was... interesting. I had no idea that so many people cosplayed. It was literally about 1 in 3. Naruto and Inu Yasha seemed to be the costume du jour and just about everybody has a Naruto forehead protector. I didn't really see that much anime for being at an anime convention. I had already seen most of the stuff they were showing, so it wasn't a personal priority. I did get to watch two very awesome live action movies though. Zatoichi and Hero. I'm not a movie critic, so I won't do an in-depth analysis of either of these movies, but I will say that they were both incredibly entertaining, and you should go see both. If all you have is $8:50 to your name and can only afford one ticket, I would have to recommend Zatoichi over Hero. Finally, a public service announcement for certain con-goers (you know who you are): soap and water are your friend. I suggest using them once a day.
