A Short Goodbye and a Long Hello
posted by Clay on Tue, Jul 6th 2004Well, here it is. The first post for Rob and Elliot. I'd like to start off by saying a big "thank you" to my good friend Greg who did all the coding for this site and made all the administration as painless as possible. Kudos! He's going to be a behind-the-scenes guy, a "shadowmaster" if you will, helping run the forums and keeping everything code-wise running smoothly. My co-conspirator in this little endeavor, and the guy who is doing all the writing, is my brother Hampton. If you find the comic funny, credit goes to him. I am sure that pretty much everyone here is from my other comic Ghost Cat so I'll take some time to tell you what is happening with that site. First of all, Ghost Cat is not dead... well, he is dead, but not as a comic. I have gone on hiatus with Ghost Cat as I determine how to end the series. It has been a great 2 years, but it's not going in the direction I want to go artistically or story-wise, so I'm going to give it the farewell it deserves, but it is going to end. It may be a while before I start finishing up the series, so I hope all you Ghost Cat fans will become Rob and Elliot fans too. As for the Rob and Elliot site, I've decided on a tentative Monday and Friday update schedule. If I find that I can squeeze another comic in on Wednesday, I will do so, but I don't want to promise something I might not be able to deliver. Also, the sheer beauty of the administration pages doesn't change the fact that there is plenty of site construction going on, so watch your step. The top navigation bar is a hodgepodge of active and inactive links. Please bear with me as I get everything in working order. The forums are fully functional though, so I ask that you join and post and be merry. The links section is working as well, so go see who I think is cool. Well that's it for my introduction so, nothing more to say than "enjoy".

posted by Hampton on Wed, Jul 7th 2004I guess this is where I'm supposed to give you some big speech about why I came up with Rob and Elliot. I guess it's cause I felt like it. So there Mr. Fartypants. I've been wanting to do a serious comic strip for a while, and thank god I waited cause my early stuff sucked major balls. Now I've got my chance to start anew, so hurray for me. Clay and I work pretty good apart, but when our powers are combined we are just like the Planeteers, and by that I means that we're a bunch of tree hugging pussies. I don't think I speak too boldly when I say we are the greatest comic duo since God and Moses. Okay that may be going a little far. Those two had some great material. So anyway, I am a proud geek. I love comic books, music, and movies, oh and a great book (preferably one with Fabio on the cover). So I guess I will be talking about those things in my posts. So if you don't care for any of Clay's interesting stuff just scroll down bruda. Lastly, I just want to say that I hope you enjoy our strip because if you don't I will become a giant sobbing mass of mucus and tears. So give us some feedback

posted by Greg on Wed, Jul 7th 2004It's been a privilege these past few weeks to work with Clay and Hampton on Rob and Elliot. Mind you, I have nothing to do with the comic. I'm the token artless nerd that helps keep all of the magic behind the curtain, or shall I say, in the shadows. That doesn't mean I won't be contributing to the site, of course. I will help moderate the forums, and we may even come up with some fun interactive diversions for you to enjoy. The coming months should be fun and challenging. If you have any comments about the site or feature requests (technologically speaking), you know where to direct your comments. Catch you on the flip side!
